Weaponize Your Privilege

Hello everyone,

Has anyone else been feeling like we’re all trapped in an episode of the Twilight Zone or Black Mirror? We’re all expected to continue going about our usual lives while witnessing the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the gutting of necessary federal programs, and people being abducted off the street and sent to prisons for something as simple as writing an op-ed. To quote one of my favorite show, “Oh! This is the Bad Place!”

With all of this unfolding in real time, I have been struggling to not only catch my breath but also understand how to weaponize my privilege in this moment. If you need a nudge, here is a non-exhaustive list of ways you can start actively engaging in resistance:

  • Create connection and community - the current systems of oppression want us to feel disconnected and broken. Disrupt that by creating points of connection. Get to know your neighbors. Host a craft night. Lead a group hike.

  • Give back - seek out your local mutual aid groups (NHMARF here in NH), contribute to a local community fridge or food pantry, or volunteer your time (like building harm reduction kits with NHHRC). With tariffs, cost of living increases, and other threats to people’s survival, a small act of kindness will go a long way.

  • Get trained or give trainings - Consider getting trained as a peacekeeper for upcoming protests, host educational sessions based on topics you are knowledgeable about, or curate information for your friends and family (e.g. public health information now that the CDC is being silenced).

  • Join us - we convene our Resistance Regroup weekly on Tuesday nights. We have a mix of guest speakers and thought-provoking discussion topics. If you’re looking for a deeper dive, we have opened enrollment for our Disruptive Leadership program that will kick off in September. Lead. Practice. Break some shit.

Trust that the ripple effects from these small actions turn into bigger waves of change. We will continue to support you all in all the ways possible and invite you to reach out whenever. We’re here for you.

In love and solidarity,

-Erin

NH Center for Nonprofits Conference

Hey, it’s Liberation Nexus Lab in the wild!

Here is proof that I actually connected with awesome people while I was there and that I occasionally leave my home office from time to time 😁

The conference was full of amazing speakers and workshops from so many people we love and admire.

Thank you to Anna, Becky, and Jessica for letting me snag a pic!

The Resistance Regroup

The Regroup is a virtual space to gather in community to build our resistance. We bring in experts to share mutual aid needs, learn about best practices to support  various identities, and share ways and encourage folks to get plugged in and active.

Our Resistance Regroup space in our Circle Community is a fantastic resource for post-meeting notes and continued discussion. If you couldn’t attend one night or want to re-engage with the material we covered, we post detailed meeting notes afterwards in the Circle group.

Join us every Tuesday at 7 pm EST as we share our experiences, accountability, and care with and for each other. There's zero expectation of continued or consistent participation; join us as much as  you want and can.

What Do Blackness, Mother's Day, and Fascism Have in Common?

This one is for Black Women and Genderqueer/Nonconforming folks. I love you.

Home is Where the [insert cliche] is.

On a personal level, I’m starting to understand what happened to those who leave Omelas. My family and I left the United States roughly nine months ago (I literally could have had a baby that no one knows about at this point).

Honoring a life that was 92 years in the making

From the Archives: Challenging the Status Quo with Logan Ares Snyder

Throughout our conversation, we discuss the trials of launching a small business, what a supportive community looks like, and why holding room for understanding others is so important. Logan also shares their experience as a guardian ad litem at CASA of NH, and speaks to the reciprocal nature of belonging.
