Pride

Happy Pride, Ya'll!

June is here, which means Pride celebrations all month, with a sprinkle of Juneteenth.

We at the Lab continue to pursue collective liberation in the face of fascist white Christian nationalism. A BIG part of collective liberation is intentionally taking the time and space to celebrate all of who we are as humans; so make sure to celebrate all that is queer and the freedom of the last of the enslaved Black people in the United States.

Take up space with your celebrations (as safely as you can)!

We're working on a lot here at the Lab. One thing we're excited to share is the launch of our inaugural cohort of the Disruptive Leadership Immersive. We're all trying to figure out what the 'right thing to do' is at this current moment in time. "How do we keep our doors open?", while also questioning "where are my/our hard lines when it comes to compliance?" or "What are we willing to risk at this moment in human history?" The Immersive is 6 months of small cohort learning, praxis, and design of liberatory frameworks as we navigate the current socio-political climate. More info can be found at https://www.liberationnexuslab.com/disruptive-leadership. We hope to see you all (or someone you know) in our first cohort!

More than anything, we're hoping that you are continuing to find moments of community and connection as we continue to navigate the collapse of the Western world - community is truly the only thing that is going to save us. Check out some of our other updates below, and remember that you can always reach out to us directly with any questions!

Why Disruptive Leaders Are Needed

We don't create systems-level shifts alone

Think back over the last few years—what has been one of the main constants? Disruption.

COVID-19 brought about massive changes in our daily lives in 2020 that persist today. If we look at the political tumult over the last few years, we not only SEE the disruption happening all around us, but we FEEL it in our bodies too. It’s impossible to turn on the TV or look at social media and not see something that causes distress. The George Floyd protests turned out vast numbers of people who were ready to reckon with racial inequity, disrupting the complacency that had become commonplace for many Americans.

Our lives are rife with disruption, but many of us have been passively moving through these disruptions because there isn’t a roadmap for meeting this moment. Disruption can be intentional or unintentional and, depending on your perspective, associated with good, bad, or neutral outcomes. The social, political, cultural, and economic conditions matter and influence the direction of the disruption and who benefits and who loses out.

Disruption is a source of power, a means of rapidly changing dynamics, and a means of interrupting the status quo in seismic ways. To harness the power of disruption, we need to face it with open eyes, head on, and unflinching. We can't turn away now.

What is Disruptive Leadership?

The Disruptive Leadership Immersive is a comprehensive six-month offering designed for forward-thinking executives and emerging leaders who seek to challenge conventional leadership paradigms while maximizing impact within inequitable capitalist systems.

From Expat to Immigrant

Americans like to describe themselves as ‘expats’ when they leave the US for another country. Lots of times, those who describe themselves as expats are in a place temporarily, for work or retirement, etc. And there is this idea that ‘home’ is still back somewhere else.

A Case for Shifting Paradigms

Collective liberation is what this world unquestionably needs. How do we achieve it?
