Issue 7

I saw a meme yesterday that said we’d had enough of the year already and we can just skip ahead to Christmas… I can relate to that.

I find myself feeling simultaneously like I’m moving through a thick haze and also having open-heart surgery. The swiftness and precision with which the new administration has taken to dismantling rights and any semblance of a safety net has been disorienting but not unexpected. However, knowing this was going to happen was one thing - seeing it play out has brought a whole new level of horror to the front.

And yet, history tells us that there will be resilience in the face of evil and now is the time to start fortifying ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead.

Emerald and I find ourselves sharing the same advice over and over again - community is what saves us and it saves us at every possible level. In what ways can you deepen into your community? What do you have to offer? Where can you build solidarity? Who can you rely on? Who relies on you? What power do you hold in all the messiness around us?

We encourage you to ramp up your soul-searching and encourage you to take action. Just don’t forget to seek and surrender yourself to joy - joy reminds of us our humanity and what we’re fighting to protect.

We are your partners in resistance and resilience. Let us know how we can support you as we reshape society.

The Resistance Regroup

This has been some of our most important and powerful work this year.

The Regroup is a virtual space to gather in community to build our resistance. We bring in experts to share mutual aid needs, learn about best practices to support  various identities, and share ways and encourage folks to get plugged in and active.

Folks have shown up week after week, asking engaging questions, and providing genuine care for one another. Our Resistance Regroup space in our Circle Community is a fantastic resource for post-meeting notes and continued discussion. If you couldn’t attend one night or want to re-engage with the material we covered, we post detailed meeting notes afterwards in the Circle group.
Join us every Tuesday at 7 pm EST as we share our experiences, accountability, and care with and for each other. There's zero expectation of continued or consistent participation; join us as much as  you want and can.

Last month we facilitated a workshop for the NH Center for Nonprofits about Creating Meaningful Inclusion on Your Nonprofit Board.

This hands-on workshop empowered nonprofit leaders with strategies to build stronger connections, foster collaboration, and create a welcoming, inclusive board culture.

Participants learned:
- The difference between tokenism and meaningful inclusion
- How tokenism impacts your organization
- Strategies to update outdated practices with equity and intention
The Liberation Nexus Lab has so many great projects in the works this year - let us know if you are interested in a workshop, cohort program, or our consulting services. We’re a lot of fun 🤩

Relationship Anarchy & the Myth of One Significant Other

What is Relationship Anarchy (RA)? It’s a philosophical approach to relationships that emphasizes autonomy, consent, and the rejection of rigid rules or hierarchies in how people relate to one another.

From the Archives: What Do We Do with Freedom?

We allow ourselves to find fleeting happiness, because the confinement is comfortable to us. But what happens when you divest from it all? When you find liberation from the weight of expectations?

From the Archives: Finding What You’re Fighting For

Emma and Lisa share powerful stories from their lives as activists and their experiences in non-violent direct actions. There is electricity and tenderness in our conversation that I know will inspire you to find your own place in the climate movement.
