Issue 5

On January 6th 2024, Emerald and I had the first meeting of what would later become the Liberation Nexus Lab. We spent an entire day in the conference room at the Bookery in Manchester digging in to our vision, values, and our individual needs within this collaboration.

It was a crystallizing moment in time. Much of what you see today stems form those early conversations and a steadfast commitment to create a business we could be proud of and a vehicle to do the kind of work we knew was possible in the world.

As we reflect on our first official six months in business (we got our biz registration in July!) and turn the page on a new calendar year, we are so excited to grow our practice and deepen our work even more. We have two continuing clients from 2024, four new clients kicking off with us this month, and another client lined up later this spring. We are so grateful for the support our community has shown us and can’t wait to continue this good work with more folks who care deeply about liberation and social change.

And that’s not all! We kicked off this month with our 30 Day Challenge (read on - it’s not too late to join!) and have plans for new book studies (one on authentic community and another on pleasure) and we opened the doors to our online community (hosted on Circle.so). We take community seriously, which is why we always had bigger dreams than just being a consulting agency. Consulting in isolation does not create paradigm shifts - we have to do that work with one another in bigger and bolder ways.

We also couldn’t do this alone and we are so grateful for our contractors who bring joy, much-needed organization, and creativity to this operation. Thank you Vero, Jackie, and Joede! Drop us a line if you’re looking for communications/graphics, operations, and/or bookkeeping support - we will gladly connect you to these lovely folks.

Thank you all for being on this journey with us.

Erin and Emerald

Build your anti-racist & liberation muscles

Our 30 Day Liberation Challenge began January 6th, on the Liberation Nexus Lab Circle community! We’re thrilled to see y’all engaging with each other and sharing your responses to the prompts.

This week we’re deep into learning from our Elders & Community

And there’s still time to join! The Challenge will be open for 30 days after it ends on Feb 8, so you’ll have plenty of time to deeply engage in the material at your own pace. Get access to a month of curated resources and content that assists participants in their individual journeys of building their knowledge, muscle, and skill of advocating and fighting for our collective liberation.

This is one of many opportunities that will be available in the new year and we look forward to learning alongside you.

The Power of Our “No”

Join us on a joy-filled wrap-up of how our 2024 went, our top 5 moments, and a look behind the scenes of how the Liberation Nexus Lab works.

We want to thank you so much along for the ride on our first year of the mission to shift hearts and minds by cultivating community and deep connections.

What’s Next in 2025?

Are you ready to saddle up and take action for building a more equitable and inclusive world?

Take the first step by joining our 30 Day Liberation Challenge  (see more details above!).

Over the course of 30 days, you'll explore curated resources, thoughtful prompts, and deep insights into liberation and anti-racism to build your muscle in liberation and abolition work - all while finding community and care with other participants seeking to radically re-imagine the world for us all.

We’ll also have more information on our Radical Leaders program coming up in the next few months - watch this newsletter to be the first to hear upcoming details!

Another Year, Another Ending

There is something that is so freeing, so liberating, about not starting my day by the screeching of machinery, but by allowing my body to wake up and readjust to consciousness naturally. Life has slowed down, significantly, and I have time to just sit and ponder. To think and then write. To be more thoughtful and intentional about the words I use when speaking to those I love. A slowness that has allowed us to understand our family bond without the pressures of American productivity hustle culture.

Reflections on Turning 40

Turning 40 is already a milestone. And in 2025, when your 40th birthday (January 20th) also happens to be the same day as MLK Day & the 2nd Inauguration of Donald Trump, you really start to question the nexus of these events in your life.

On Grieving and Looking Ahead

Grief manifests in all kinds of surprising ways. More than that, what we grieve can be just as surprising as how we grieve.

Over the past months, I’ve been experiencing new and old waves of grief surrounding aging, the loss of loved ones, and the state of our country.
