Issue 4: Survival, Vulnerability, Revolution

We've been busy here in the Lab over the last month. Showing up for people in our community as we all continue to navigate the rocky terrain of our current social and political landscape continues to be top of mind for us in the Lab. We encourage all of you to find space of authentic community and care as preparation for the next Presidential administration in the country and to prioritize joy at every chance you get.

As we approach a season that is saturated with various religious and ethnic holidays and observations, we, at the Lab, are looking forward to some time off to focus on our rest and time with loved ones, before we hit the ground running in 2025. There are lots of new and exciting projects we are developing and designing to roll out in the new year and hope that you'll all join in some of the collective learning.

Starting January 6th, our 30-Day Liberation challenge will open to all who've registered (details below). This will be a month of curated resources and content that assists participants in their individual journeys of building their knowledge, muscle, and skill of advocating and fighting for our collective liberation. This is one of many opportunities that will be available in the new year and we look forward to learning alongside you.

Happy Holidays & We'll See You in the New Year!

Starting January 6, 2025, join us for 30 days of reflection, resources, and inspiration in understanding your liberation journey. We know that finding and using our voices in community building and anti-racist work can often feel like a big undertaking.

Let us help you, over 30 days, build your muscle in liberation and abolition work, while finding community and care with others seeking to radically re-imagine the world for us all.

Complete this form to express your interest in joining Liberation Nexus Lab's 30 Day Challenge. We will be in touch in December with more information on the Challenge, pricing, and what to expect.

Event Timing: January 6th - February 8th 2025

Tune in as Emerald and Erin discuss:

  • The importance of listening to our children and our communities

  • The long path that got the United States to this point

  • How many communities have been surviving oppression and lack of freedoms for a long time, and have strategies already developed

  • How our hope lies in meeting our community’s collective needs

We challenge you to reflect:

  • Can you identify who your community is? How are you looking out for one another?

  • Is there a community that has been dealing with issues you are now facing for a long time? (There almost certainly is) Now is the time to sit down and listen to those lessons.

Vulnerability in Liberation: Liberation Lab Zoomies

We need to role model vulnerability in the work that we do.
Tune in as Emerald and Erin discuss:

  • How, if we want to truly work towards a liberated society, we need to embrace and care for all aspects of each other - especially emotional

  • How can we fully acknowledge and also embrace our human-ness in our every day actions?

We challenge you to reflect:

  • Do you find yourself turning off the faucet of emotions in the sake of ‘getting the job done’, for the sake of capitalism?

  • How can you begin a shift towards vulnerability in your own work? How might that impact and encourage those around you?

New from Emerald Anderson-Ford

... and class solidarity and community is how we survive. Revolution happens when ‘Nothing’ is what we have in common.

So, here we are, a week after re-electing a vile, racist, selfish, husk of a man back into the office of the presidency, and Black women, fiercely, told the nation what was up. And now, as Black women retreat back within ourselves and buiding our own communities, I can’t help but get frustrated at the fact that we have no choice but to be the saviors of everyone.

New from Erin Allgood

Back in 2022, Randall Nielsen and Ashley Johnson were looking for community. As Queer artists in New Hampshire, they each felt a distinct lack of supportive, artistic space in which they could be their full selves. When they were connected at a Pride Festival organizing event, a creative spark was lit, and Queerlective was born.

You know those phases of life when things are going well, but something just feels… off? If you’re in one of those phases, then this episode is for you. reality of motherhood knocked at my door.
